Couples Therapy

Things just aren’t what they used to be…

Do you remember when things used to be… EASIER?

It was even EXCITING!

Conversations… really, everything… just seemed to FLOW.

Being together felt so good. There was no other place you’d rather be.

But now, there’s a space between you two.

It’s not as easy and relaxed as it used to be.

In fact, what used to attract you to your partner now upsets you. What used to be perceived as your partner’s “spontaneity” and “freedom” now feels like “impulsiveness” and “selfishness.”

Things just FEEL different, and there’s no shortage of conflict.

You don’t seem to communicate well anymore…

It’s not clear that they’re living up to their responsibilities…

You wonder why you’re always so upset…

The arguments and the issues linger, and it’s palpable how much you’re NOT saying to each other…

And what happened to “quality time”??

Sometimes – especially when life is hard and you feel overwhelmed – your partner appears to be in their own world, unaware of your feelings and what you need.

And the distance keeps growing stronger…

Both of you feel guarded…

… which is expected when you always feel like you have to defend yourself from accusations or unfair criticism.

Affection used to come so easily…

But now, you’re both tired: Tired of not feeling close to each other… and tired of not feeling understood.

It’s time you both let your guard down…

Whether you want to build a relationship that cultivates closeness and intimacy or find a way to separate with tenderness and compassion, this is a space where you can share with each other what’s in your hearts.

Together, we will work to close the distance between you. But to do that, you’ll both have to take a risk.

You’ll both have to risk sharing what you have been holding in your heart and mind. You’ll have to let your partner know what you are experiencing so that you don’t feel alone and misunderstood.

Together, we’ll explore what’s really going on in your relationship. This will require that you both come back into contact with each other. It will take courage to move toward each other openly and honestly.

One of the deepest desires for humans is to feel connected, despite the confusion, conflict, and pain. We’ll foster that connection by giving you both the space you need to be heard.

A big part of our work together will be addressing the conflict, which means understanding it AND collaborating with each other on how to heal your wounds.

As you both know, successful relationships take attention and care.

And you’ve both put in a lot.

And it’s okay for you both to want additional support in this area.

After all, your relationship is worth the effort!
